Fire engulfs Falls Family Restaurant in Olmsted Falls, leaving behind significant damage

A fire engulfed the Falls Family Restaurant in Olmsted Falls Friday evening, leaving behind significant damage at a location that just celebrated three decades in business.

Video shared with 3News showed smoke and flames billowing from the building on Columbia Road. Upon arriving at the scene, our reporters spotted burned parts of the structure as well as a roof that had caved in.

Mayor Chad Gluss later told 3News that the fire broke out around 7:15 p.m. and that firefighters had to retreat after initially making entry due to dangerous conditions. He added that “at least six” agencies came to assist the Olmsted Falls Fire Department with their response.

“We’re going to reconvene tomorrow morning, and they’ll do a full event fire investigation in the morning,” Gluss said. “I do know the state fire marshal has been contacted.”
